Claude Design — Anthropic's New AI Design Tool Explained

## What is Claude Design?

Claude Design is a new product from Anthropic Labs, launched on April 17, 2026 alongside the Claude Opus 4.7 release. Instead of pushing pixels in Figma, you describe what you need in a chat — and Claude builds the design, prototype, deck, or one-pager directly on a canvas.

Claude Design is currently in research preview and available to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers at [claude.ai/design](https://claude.ai/design).

Key features

Conversational design — You tell Claude what you want ("landing page for an AI coaching business, modern look, dark hero section, three testimonials") and get a working design back, which you then refine iteratively.

Inline editing with live knobs — Edit text directly, comment on specific elements, and use adjustment knobs to tweak spacing, color, and layout. Claude can then apply your changes across the full design.

Organization-scoped sharing — Keep documents private, share internally via link, or grant edit access to colleagues. Multiple people can collaborate with Claude in the same group conversation on a single design.

Export everywhere — Share as an internal URL, save to a folder, or export to Canva, PDF, PPTX, or standalone HTML.

Handoff to Claude Code — When a design is production-ready, Claude Design packages everything into a handoff bundle you can pass to Claude Code with a single instruction. Design to code, no friction.
